FREE WILL

Free will is an often misunderstood idea. To understand that we must first understand WILL. WILL is determination, the actual faculty that allows you to make decisions on your own, independently, without any outside influence or help. Guidance must not be confused with influence. The soul will listen or not listen to guidance and suggestion and will reach its decisions by itself, independently. That is why the word ‘free’ is important. It signifies the absence of any conditions or influences that may be applied. It is truly FREE. It has a power to make this faculty wholesome and healthy. Free will can also be called a pure, unalloyed faculty that takes decisions. It can arise out of a mind that is ruled by the higher self and not vice versa. You have free, complete and absolute free, will even before you enter the physical form, and even before you have decided to whom you will be born and when you will be born. You use this free will to chart out your life. In this guidance is given at every stage and in any form that is sought, but the final chart is yours and yours alone. It is very important to know that there is no wrong or right chart. No chart is wrong; it merely is what it is--------a blueprint. But just as every blueprint needs the architect to be skilled and true to his task, so also does every life course. After you have this blueprint you then look around for the person who will be the right vehicle appropriate for the kind of birth, life and death you desire. In this the mother is not the only important factor, but the whole family, home and environment of the mother also. Then comes just the right moment of birth which will help you to have all the strengths and weaknesses that you have opted for. This is then the exercise of free will. Even after this stage the soul is given the free will to get out of its decision at any time if it feels that the blueprint needs to be revised. That is why you have miscarriages and some abortions. Other abortions are experiences that the mother had charted out for herself. In this kind of abortion no other soul is involved. It is merely an experience given to the mother. It is essential to remember that a beating heart is not a sign of life or the presence of the soul. It is only the physical body being readied for a soul to enter at the appropriate time. The soul does not reside in this body all the time. When the body has adequately developed, in about the fifth month, the soul comes in sometimes to feel comfortable in a new body that will at first seem a strange house to it. It is very much like when you occupy a hotel room for a little while trying to get acquainted with what is around, before you can feel comfortable and safe. But the hotel room does not become your home till you finally decide that you can live there for a long time. Similarly the soul tries out this body and this mother and this environment to find comfort. If it feels that any of these factors is not right it will depart. If there is another soul who wishes to take over this body it may do so; otherwise the mother’s body will be given instructions by her higher self (which is in complete communion with the other soul) that she does not need to be a vehicle anymore and the body will be ejected. At every stage in this, there is complete free will of the soul, but in these very important long months the soul is never left without a guide or friend, because the soul needs constant guidance which is neither denied nor forced upon. Once the soul occupies the physical form and takes birth the process of the higher self disconnecting from the physical soul begins. Soon the disconnection is enough for the physical soul to have no physical, conscious memories, and the process of the physical life really starts.

At this stage the confusion arises between free will and predetermination, but after this explanation there shouldn’t be. What you, in the physical, call predetermination, is the complete free will that YOU exercised when you charted out your life. The physical self having no recollection of its higher self, erroneously thinks that it has no choice and that everything is ‘destiny’. But remember what has been rightly said “ the son is the father of man”. When you are the soul (without the physical body) you the son who has fathered you, the man. So there is nothing else but free will and when you have co choice it means that the physical you has little choice because the choices are still being made by you, your higher self, of which you are not aware. So no one, no one, no one, tells you ever, at even the smallest moment in time, what to do. YOU do it all, whether in physical form or higher soul form. Even then you again are given complete free will to change the blueprint in the middle of the construction. It is only when the architect actually starts building, will he know the true flaws or strengths of the structure, and he can then change the blueprint accordingly. This is exactly what you do while living out your charted course. Your higher self begins to get aware of a lot that it could not foresee when it laid the chart. The blueprint is then changed, and very often life takes a complete 180* turn, sometimes drastically, sometimes slowly and gradually. This is also your choice, but the moments when the blueprints change are very few in each one’s life and may not come at all in others. Does every architect change his blueprint every time?

Your pre-natal experience was also a charted course that you had asked for, so the time when you entered (the body) and the moment of disconnection (from the higher self) came earlier so that you could have this experience which has taught you so many lessons.

No, it is not always necessary that you will choose a mother and a family that you have deep links with. Sometimes you choose persons with whom the links are not deep but which may have been unpleasant in the past. So you come to them to resolve your karmas with them, because the family is always one with whom you have chosen to resolve most. So if you do not wish to prolong unpleasant links you decide to come to them and resolve these quickly.
