Jub jub raat nikalti hai,

Aur kaali chhadar phaelti hai,

Oosper motiyaa bhi laati hai,

Oos motiyon mein, MAI HOON.

(As night falls and the sky is enveloped in a black sheet, there are clusters of pearls that are brought with it; it is in those pearls that I AM.)

Jub jub andhera phaelta hai,

Aur chaand nahi nikalta hai,

Tub dooor andhere may ek diya hai,

Wuh diya bhi MAI HOON.

(When darkness spreads and the moon is not to be seen, far away in the darkness you can see a light; it is in that light that I AM.)

Jub krodh say dil chotaa hotaa hai;

Aur nirashi aag sankoch leti hai,

Tub do haath aagay budhtay hai,

Wuh haath bhi MAI HOON.

(When your heart shrinks with rage, and the fire of despondency suffocates you, two hands are stretched towards you; it is in those hands that I AM.)

Jub paer phisalte chaltay hai,

Aur haath kumzor ho jaatay hai,

Hriday khool jaataa hai,

Aur aati hai ek awaaz--- MAI HOON.

(It is when your feet falter and cannot can’t walk, and when your hands get weak, that the heart opens itself up and a cry is heard “I AM”.)

Jub lahoo hi lahoo dikhta hai

Aur marne ki cheekh soonaati hai,

Tub khilta hai ek kamal,

Wuh kamal bhi MAI HOON.

(When all around is seen bloodshed, and the cries of death are heard, a lotus flower blossoms; that lotus too I AM.)

Jub kichhad may gandhki phaelti hai,

Aur oon kichaddh ki baas phaelti hai,

Oosmay khoolta hai yaha kamal,

Yeh kamal jo MAI HOON.

(When in the wet mud spreads dirt, and the dirty mud begins to smell, a lotus flower blossoms; that lotus that I AM.)

Jub haath toot jaatay hai,

Aur aankho say paani tipakta hai,

Tub mooha say cheekh nikalti hai,

Wuh cheekh ka javaab MAI HOON.

(When your hands become frail, and your eyes fill with tears, and a loud cry for help leaves your lips; the answer to that cry I AM.)

Jub kooch bhi samaj nahi aataa,

Jub log karay bandh darvaaza,

Ek hriday khool jaata hai,

Oos hriday mein MAI HOON.

(When all is beyond your comprehension, when people close their doors to you,
one heart opens itself to you; in that heart I AM.)

Mere haath nahi, meray paer nahi,

Mera dil nahi, mera shareer nahi,

Mera mun nahi, mera mustak nahi,

Bus mai, MAI HOON.

(I have no hands, I have no feet, I have no heart, I have no body, I have no mind, I have no brain; only I am, I AM.)

Moojhay krodh nahi,

Andhakaar nahi,

Ronaa nahi,  gaurav nahi,

Bus mai, MAI HOON.

(I have no rage, no darkness neither, I have no grief, nor pride do I have; only I am I AM.)

Mai hassi nahi,

Mai pyaar nahi,

Mai roshni nahi,

Bus mai, MAI HOON.

(I am not laughter alone, I am not affection alone, I am not light alone; only I am I AM.)

 
Mai hoon to ek, pur too dekhtaa nahi.

Mai hoon to yahaan, pur too soontaa nahi.

Mai awaaz nahi, mai kooch bhi nahi,

Haan bus mai, MAI HOON.

(I am one, but you don’t see that, I am always with you, but you don’t listen; I am not sound, I am nothing; but yet I am, I AM.)

Mai Shiv bhi hoon, mai Vishnu bhi,

Mai Mary hoo aur Yezu bhi,

Mai Allah hoo, aur Ishwar bhi

Bus mai, MAI HOON.

(I am Shiv, I am also ‘Vishnu’, I am Mary, I am Jesus, I am Allah and also ‘Ishwar’, because I am, I AM.)

Tu dekhta moojhay pehchaantaa nahi,

Tu soonta moojhay, pur kooch kartaa nahi.

Aur mai yahaan raah dekhta rahoo,

Kyon ki. mai, MAI HOON.

(You see me but you don’t recognize me, you hear me but you don’t listen and I am here left waiting for you, because I am, I AM.)

Tu jahaan bhi jaayay, mai aagay jaaoo,

Tu pichhay dekhyay, to mai hi aaoon,

Pur too haath meraa pakadtaa nahi

Kyon ki tu jaantaa nahi ki mai, MAI HOON.

(Wherever you go, I go with you; when you look back, it is I you see; But you don’t hold my hand because you don’t know, that I am, I AM.)

Kitni meri aawaaz bhi hai,

Mai nay kitnaa roya hai,

Meraa hriday bhar chookaa hai,

Pur too jaantaa nahi, ki TU hi MAI HOON.

(I shout myself hoarse, I have cried so many tears, my heart is now full of grief, but you still don’t know that you are I AM.)

Gaaoo yeh geet meray saath!

Ki ‘Om’ ki goonjahat

Shareer ke rom rom  may bassay,

Aur tu dekhay ki tu bhi MAI HOON.

(Sing this song of OM with me, so that the vibrations of its sound can permeate each cell of your body and you will see that you are I AM.)

Iss chotay shareer say baahar aa jaa.

Yeh badi dunyaa may tu samaa jaa.

Aur tu yehi mehsoos karegaa,

Ki Tu aur Mai, MAI HOON.

(Leave the confines of this physical body, and come into a vast universe, so that you can experience that you and I are I AM.)

Tu ek kamal aur mai hoon kitcchad.

Pur kamal yaha samajtaa nahi,

Ki kamal ki khushbo may kitcchad ki badboo

Tu samajtaa nahi ki tu hi MAI HOON.

(You are the lotus and I the mud, but the lotus does not understand that in the scent of the lotus is mingled the smell of the mud. You do not understand that you are I AM.)

 
Mai aur Tu kabhi ek they.

Pur Tu yeh samajtaa hai,

Ki hum anek hai.

Jub teraa ek aur meraa ek,

Bun jaayay subkaa anek,

Tub tu jaanaygaa,

Ki tu hi MAI HOON.

(Once you and I were one. But you think that we are separate. When you and I become ‘all’ you will know, that you and I are one.)

Tu hi pakshi, tu hi pashoo,

Tu hi manushya, tu hi phool,

Tu hi aasmaan aur tu hi zameen.

Aur iss tu may bussi, Mai HOON.

(You are the bird, you are the beast, you are the human, you are the flower, you are the sky and you are the earth, and in this you is seated the I AM.)

Teri hassi may meri awaaz,

Tere aankh may meraa diya.

Tere hriday may meri jhawalaa

Kyon ki tu hi MAI hoo.

(I am the sound of your laughter, I am the light in your eyes,  I am the fire in your heart because you are I AM.)

Jub tu rotaa, to mai rotaa.

Tera hriday meray hriday may aa jaataa.

Pur tu dekhtaa nahi yaha milan;

Kyon ki toojhay yaad nahi ki tu hi MAI HOON.

(When you cry, I cry with you; your heart becomes a part of mine. But you do not see this blending, because you remember not that you are I AM.)

 Ub aankhay khol aur moojhay dekh!

Aur yaha ainay may toojhay hi dekh!

Kyoinmoojhay alag kar diya?

Tu kyon nahi maantaa ki tu hi MAI HOON?

(Now open your eyes and see me! And in this mirror of mine see yourself.
Why have you separated yourself from me? Why don’t you believe that you are I AM?)

Tu kahaan chotaa aur mai kahaan badaa

Tu kahaan galat aur mai kahaan sahee.

Jub yeh duniyaa may hum ek hi bussay hai,

To tu boltaa kyon nahi, ki tu hi MAI HOON!

(You are neither small, nor I am big; you are neither wrong nor I am right. When in this world all is one, why do you not admit that you are I AM?)

Jub tu yeh maanaygaa,

To nayaa suraj nikal aayegaa.

Yeh nayi suraj ki kiranay phael jaayegi.

Aur aasmaan, aur zameen kahegi,

Tu hi, tu hi, tu hi MAI HOON.

(When you believe this truth a new sun will burst forth and the rays of this new sun will cover everything and the sky and the earth will say You are, You are, You are I AM.)
